Today Apple introduced the iOS 18.1 Beta for beta testers which speaks so many things that create buzz on the internet including Call recording and transcription features. Everyone was expecting the Call Recording will come with the iPhone 16 ahead of, Apple surprised iPhone users.
However it will be available only for iPhone 15 Pro, Pro Max, and above devices, no surprises for the regular iPhone 15 and below models.
These features were introduced by Apple Intelligence in the iOS 18.1 Beta update which is currently in the Testing Phase and available for developers and testers only.
According to Information, the call recording will be performed with real-time transcription which supports multiple languages, like English, Japanese, Spanish, French, German, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Portuguese.
Call Recording in iPhones After 18.1 Update
The iOS 18.1 Beta showcases real-time transcription and call recording performed when you tap on the record button available on the caller screen. Unfortunately, when you tap the Record button, they will send a message and inform the other side that you have started recording their calls.
However, this feature is far behind the introduced in Android but they are solving the speaking message problem by installing an external app on their phone I don’t think that Apple will allow iPhone users to stop speaking messages when they tap on the record button.
As soon the call is recorded, in real-time, your phone will give you the written transcription of your talk which is recorded. The Transcription features support multiple languages and regions like English (various regions), Spanish (U.S., Mexico, Spain), Mandarin Chinese (mainland China, Taiwan), French (France), German (Germany), Japanese (Japan), Cantonese (mainland China, Hong Kong), and Portuguese (Brazil).
In terms of understanding the value and important points of the call discussion, this transcription feature will significantly assist in identifying key information and points of the conversation.
iOS 18.1 Beta Key Features
Apart from Call Recording and Transcription features, they introduce many things like—
- Search Interface: After the update, the phone app will get the search interface where you can find the call history. Also, it will be capable of finding/filling the number as you have started writing mobile numbers, this app will predict related numbers from your contacts or call history, starting with what you writing.
- Find Key Value From Discussion: Real-time transcription is one of the powerful features brought by the company. It allows you to find the key value of your discussion and generate a summary of it.
